I have discovered this music video recently and hadn’t been aware of Dan Deacon at all before. It somehow perfectly catches my current mood and illustrates how things feel like inside my head… Have a look at the Vimeo page of Creative Director Dave Hughes!

Cosmic Flower Unfolding

This short, but incredibly intense video offers one of the most immersive spacial experiences that I have seen in a while. In fact, it is more immersive then most “real” 3D movies out there… See for yourself!

By the way, the visual style reminds me of Buddhist art. Credit goes to the creator Bed Ridgway, who is also responsible for a few other similarly amazing videos.

el Empleo

This short film illustrates perfectly what work is like for most people. Even though my job is different in many respects I feel like that occasionally, too. So this is what it all comes down to in life? I still hope there is an alternative approach somewhere, but haven’t found it yet… I’ll keep looking though!

Please support the creator Santiago Grasso if you like the short film! Maybe this way at least he can be spared the feeling of everyday despair that he managed to capture so brilliantly.

Nightvision

Once in a while you come across something that, even if random or insignificant, really sticks with you for a long time. I have published a few movies on this blog already that had such an effect on me…

It has been a while since it last happened, but the stop-motion movie Nightvision did it again. It was shot by Luke Shepard and financed through a Kickstarter campaign. I find it awesome, but decide for yourself!

Traffic Jam

A different kind of traffic jam that I encountered recently on my way to work…

SAMSUNG i9305 Galaxy S3 LTE

Two years have passed since I bought my first smartphone and it has been beyond useful. Unfortunately, my faithful SGS wasn’t able to keep up with the latest apps and the various use cases that I thought up for it. A single processor core and only 512MB of memory just don’t cut it anymore in terms of performance.

Even when running the latest Jelly Bean custom ROMs from XDA the device felt sluggish and lagged considerably. Especially frustrating though, was the odd timing of occasional freezes which seemed to happen just when I relied on it most.

Watch Samsung’s i9305 enter the stage… This amazing piece of technology boasts a quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, NFC, and on top of it all the lightning fast LTE wireless standard.

The i9305 isn’t just a phone, but a fully-featured and incredibly powerful computing device, small enough to fit in any pocket. The 4.7-inch display has brilliant contrast and vivid colors, but most of all it is just the right size for me. The moment I held it for the first time, there was no going back to smaller screens. And it has a very strong LED light at the back, which is something that I have truly missed on my SGS.

After the obligatory rooting and a week of use I can only wonder how I ever made it thus far without such a device. And what did become of my SGS, you might wonder? Well, let’s just say that my wife is beginning to wonder how she could cope without a smartphone in the first place…
