The Egg

A weird and thought-provoking story written by Andy Weir and beautifully animated in vector style by the video creator group Kurzgesagt.

If you like the optimistic nihilism that Kurzgesagt employ in explaining science topics and if this particular video speaks to you, as it did to me, make sure to support the creators!

Story of Flowers

A beautifully hand-drawn animation depicting flowers growing and withering… Truly a masterpiece by Japanese visual artist Azuma Makoto.

The intricate level of detail is breathtaking, and yet, adequate for this subject matter!

Postindustrial

Great abstract piece of video art from Compote Collective. Check out their other videos, which are likewise truly impressive.

Biotop

An exceedingly simple, yet powerful animation to remind us of nature’s fragility. As if any additional reminders were necessary with what has been happening to the environment for so many decades… Still, a superb work by art student Jola Bańkowska from Warsaw.

The Girl in the Yellow Dress

An awesome animated music video for David Gilmour‘s song “The Girl in the Yellow Dress” created by the ornana films collective. Artist Aubrey Powell and director Danny Madden used 9,000 hand-drawn frames to depict the femme fatale vibe of the song.

Despite being a Pink Floyd fan, I never had much interest in Gilmour’s solo work – unlike the that of Roger Waters. Good thing that this intricate music video spiked my interest now… better late than never!

DDWIWDD

I have discovered this music video recently and hadn’t been aware of Dan Deacon at all before. It somehow perfectly catches my current mood and illustrates how things feel like inside my head… Have a look at the Vimeo page of Creative Director Dave Hughes!

Cosmic Flower Unfolding

This short, but incredibly intense video offers one of the most immersive spacial experiences that I have seen in a while. In fact, it is more immersive then most “real” 3D movies out there… See for yourself!

By the way, the visual style reminds me of Buddhist art. Credit goes to the creator Bed Ridgway, who is also responsible for a few other similarly amazing videos.
